97. Duty Faith and Duty Repentance

It is the duty of all men everywhere to repent and believe in Christ, even though no man has the ability to do either of these things. God will give these abilities as a free gift, only to the elect.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

John 5:22,23 - "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father."

Acts 8:22 - "Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee."

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent."

Acts 20:21 - "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."

Acts 26:20 - "But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance."
