122. Great Tribulation

The Biblical phrase "great tribulation," refers to life in this world. It is NOT a particular period of time near the end:

It is the same period of time as the "Times of the Gentiles"

Luke 21:22-24 - "For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled."

Great tribulation:

Matthew 24:21 - "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."

Revelation 2:22 - "Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds."

Revelation 7:14 - "And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."

Tribulation:

Deuteronomy 4:30 - "When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice."

Judges 10:14 - "Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation."

1 Samuel 26:24 - "And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation."

Matthew 13:21 - "Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended."

Matthew 24:29 - "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken"

Mark 13:24 - "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light"

John 16:33 - "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Acts 14:22 - "Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God."

Romans 2:9 - "Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile."

Romans 5:3 - "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience."
